Megan chats with Westlife
Pop superstars Westlife made a Northumberland youngster's day when they chatted to her backstage before a sell-out gig.The Irish fourseome all took time out from their hectic schedule to speak to Megan Armstrong at their concert at the Newcastle Arena earlier this week. The eight-year-old is battling a brain tumour on her brain that was diagnosed when she was a baby.Dad, Philip, said the youngster had loved meeting the band. "It was great. The fact that the guys gave up some of their time to chat with Megan and make a fuss of her was really good."They were obviously really busy, having been to a charity event earlier in the evening and they were about to go on stage, but they still had time for her. They asked how she was doing and where she was from, things like that. Fair play to them - they were genuinely lovely guys."The meeting took place before the band performed in front of 14,000 fans. Mr Armstrong said: Megan was absolutely delighted to be there and was very excited. She made them a little picture with stick men on it with their heads stuck on, with her in the middle, with a message on the back. Mark read it out and they were quite touched by it."After the meeting Megan, eight, joined the audience. Although it took a couple of songs for her sensitive ears to become accustomed to the loud noise, Mr Armstrong said his daughter was soon up singing along and dancing.Anyone who would like to donate to the appeal set up in Megan's name can visit the website on www.meganappeal.com
